OPHARDT Hygiene sponsors the German Toilet Organization

For cleaner restrooms in schools — OPHARDT Hygiene will serve as an official sponsor of the German Toilet Organization e.V. (GTO) over the next few years.

D (grade) – that’s the grade 949 Berlin schoolchildren gave their school restrooms. The results of a study published in 2023 by the German Toilet Organization e.V. (GTO) highlight the urgent need to improve restroom facilities in educational institutions [1]. The GTO’s current work builds on this. Founded in Berlin back in 2005, the GTO is now committed to promoting safe, clean, and hygienic restrooms worldwide. This is an issue to which the international family-owned company OPHARDT Hygiene, as a technology leader in the development and manufacture of high-quality dispenser systems, has long been dedicated.

OPHARDT Hygiene promotes the Toiletten machen Schule® support portal

To further emphasize this important issue, OPHARDT has been supporting the GTO since the beginning of the year as an official sponsor in the development of a resource portal called Toiletten machen Schule®. The digital portal will be launched later this year and is designed to provide concrete support to all school stakeholders in sustainably improving restroom facilities in schools. Planned resources include practical guides, helpful materials, and best practices.

“I receive two or three inquiries every day from all over the country,” says Svenja Ksoll, the project coordinator. “School administrators, parents, student representatives, and others turn to us for advice on how to improve their situation. Our portal offers concrete self-help resources and builds self-efficacy by involving those directly affected.”

The development of the support portal is funded by additional active sponsors. These include the Deutsche Postcode Lotterie, Domestos, the Heinz Trox Foundation, Knorr-Bremse Global Care, the TOOLS FOR LIFE Foundation, the WEPA Foundation, and the Villeroy & Boch Group

“We are very grateful to our sponsors for enabling us to make this important contribution,” says Thilo Panzerbieter, CEO of GTO. “We hope that the portal can also be funded by public funds in the future.”

In addition to launching the support portal, GTO plans to launch the “Toiletten machen Schule®” competition this fall, which will conclude with the second School Restroom Summit next year and be celebrated with a special event.
