World Patient Safety Day 2025: Patient safety from the start!

Every year on 17 September, the global health community unites to observe World Patient Safety Day. This initiative, led by the World Health Organisation (WHO), draws attention to the urgent need to make health care safer for all.

The 2025 theme – “Patient safety from the start!” – highlights the importance of safeguarding newborns and children. Young patients are especially vulnerable to harm in health care settings due to their developing bodies and unique medical needs. Preventable infections remain one of the leading causes of harm, making hygiene and infection prevention measures essential in safe care.

At OPHARDT Hygiene, our mission is closely aligned with this year’s call to action. For more than 60 years, we have developed dispensers and hand hygiene systems that help health care professionals and patients practice safe, reliable hand hygiene. Clean hands are one of the simplest, yet most powerful, tools we have to prevent infections and reduce avoidable harm.

By working closely with hospitals, care facilities, and partners worldwide, we support health care systems in creating environments where safety comes first. Whether through robust dispenser technology, digital monitoring, or user-friendly designs, our focus remains the same: to break the chain of infection.

On this World Patient Safety Day, we join the global effort to advocate for stronger safety standards and to recognise the dedication of health care professionals who work tirelessly to protect patients every day. Together, we can move closer to a world where every patient receives care that is clean, safe, and free from preventable harm.
