Behind the Scenes of the ingo-man® go: A Modular Evolution

When we set out to develop the ingo-man® go and ingo-man® go modular, we wanted to build on the trusted performance of the ingo-man® range while creating a dispenser platform suited to a broader range of environments. The result is a product that carries the DNA of ingo-man® forward in a lighter, more flexible design.

For over half a century, the ingo-man® name has stood for reliability and durability in hand hygiene, particularly in demanding healthcare settings. The new ingo-man® go continues this legacy while introducing a refreshed design language and a modular architecture that opens the door to new applications.

A New Chapter

The ingo-man® go reinterprets the classic Euro dispenser with a minimalist, contemporary design. While the ingo-man® plus continues to serve as the benchmark for clinical environments, the go platform was developed to extend ingo-man® reliability into additional settings.

To achieve this, the dispenser was designed to be lighter, more resource-efficient, and easier to deploy across a wide range of facilities. The unit incorporates 50% recycled plastic components, ships in double packs to reduce packaging and transport emissions, and is up to 20% lighter than earlier ingo-man® systems—while maintaining the robustness associated with the brand.

Ravi Tank, one of the designers working on the project, explains that the design approach focused on simplicity as much as aesthetics.

“We wanted something that felt contemporary yet unmistakably ingo-man®—efficient and functional without unnecessary complexity,” he said.

This meant refining the Euro bottle interface, optimizing pump performance, and developing a housing that supports future modular expansion.

Modularity: A Platform for Flexibility

A key innovation behind the ingo-man® go platform is its modular architecture.

In addition to the standard ingo-man® go, which comes with the long-lasting plastic K pump, OPHARDT introduced the ingo-man® go modular.

The modular version allows facilities to expand functionality over time. With an optional adapter, users can integrate hygienic single-use DHP pumps. The same adapter also enables compatibility with the ingo-man® SmartNose, allowing facilities to collect data on dispenser usage and estimated fill levels.

Padraig McDonagh, OPHARDT’s chief engineer for the Euro series, describes this approach as a shift in design philosophy.

“Instead of designing a single fixed product, we created a platform,” he explains. “Facilities can start with a simple manual dispenser and expand capabilities over time if their needs change.”

This approach allows organisations to adapt their hygiene infrastructure without replacing entire units—supporting both operational flexibility and resource efficiency.

From Concept to Reality

Developing the ingo-man® go required a careful balance between durability, efficiency, and design clarity. From the outset, engineers, designers, and product managers worked together to create a dispenser that preserves the reliability associated with the ingo-man® range while optimizing materials and manufacturing.

The geometry of the housing was carefully re-engineered to maintain structural strength while reducing material usage. By refining the internal construction and optimizing the aluminium components, the team achieved a design that balances durability with improved material efficiency.

New manufacturing technologies, including precision laser cutting, also enabled higher production accuracy and consistent quality.

The drip tray was redesigned with everyday use in mind. It is now more compact, making the unit better suited to space-restricted environments. The tray can be adjusted vertically and secured using an integrated locking mechanism, ensuring stability during use while simplifying maintenance.

Together, these refinements improve installation flexibility while maintaining the dependable performance expected from an ingo-man® dispenser.

What Comes Next

With the launch of ingo-man® go and ingo-man® go modular, OPHARDT is expanding the possibilities of the ingo-man® platform.

Drawing on more than 50 years of dispenser expertise, the new system brings trusted performance into a flexible, modern format suited to a wider range of environments—from healthcare support facilities to hospitality, public buildings, and workplaces.

It’s an ingo-man® for everyone. It’s built to last and to adapt—just like the ingo-man® has.
