OPHARDT donates sanitizer dispensers for flood victims

Help for the Ahr Valley: OPHARDT donates sanitizer dispensers for flood victims. The Ahr valley still bears the dramatic consequences of the flood disaster in the night from July 14 to 15. The AHRche – an association for disaster relief and reconstruction – helps the people from these very regions with various means.

The flood in the Ahr valley swept away houses, bridges, and lives. The power of the water was unstoppable. Many residents not only lost their homes, but also loved ones. In such times of catastrophe it is important to stick together. Even two months after the flood, water, electricity, and other basic services have not been completely rebuilt.

The non-profit association “Die AHRche” is overseeing disaster relief and reconstruction. At the former camping site “Am Ahrtor” in Ahrweiler, the association supports those affected. The aid project started immediately the day after the flood.

At the beginning, light poles, power sources for charging cell phones, showers, and food stations were set up here. This relief operation, created amidst the rubble, has since become the central point of contact for the entire neighborhood. With 3 meals a day, a bike rental, pastoral care, a hairdresser and much more, victims can find essentials as well as shelter. And the relief organization is here to stay, planning to be on site at least until the Spring. And OPHARDT also helps the residents: We donate sanitizer dispensers for the flood victims.

“Even two months after the flood, we need help at every point. Likewise, because the Corona pandemic is also present in the Ahr Valley, the importance of COVID-19 preventative measures should not be underestimated. The sanitizer dispensers are a very welcome and helpful donation

OPHARDT Hygiene is also helping the flood victims. Three PRAESIDIO® touchless sanitizer dispensers have been sent to the aid organization AHRche. Lucas Borschlegl, a member of the founding and management team at AHRche in the Ahr Valley, accepted the dispensers. “Even two months after the flood, we need help at every point. Likewise, because the Corona pandemic is also present in the Ahr Valley, the importance of COVID-19 preventative measures should not be underestimated. The sanitizer dispensers are a very welcome and helpful donation,” said the co-founder.

“Since August 9th, we have been officially registered as an association in order to continue to provide assistance to the affected people. In the meantime, we have two vehicles, wheel loader in operation, and have recently initiated a new funding campaign because winter is now approaching and many people still have no heating. But we are working at full speed!” Lucas Borschlegl told us about the current situation in the Ahr Valley.

We are cheering on the commitment of the many volunteers helping AHRche restore the Ahr Valley!
