The 17th Congress of the German Society for Hospital Hygiene (DGKH) impressed with its wide range of topics and renowned speakers. The organizers counted a total of over 1,000 participants, who also informed themselves about current products at the industry exhibition. OPHARDT Hygiene presented its digital solutions for hand hygiene alongside the tried-and-tested ingo-man® brand Euro dispensers.
This year, the World Conference Center in Bonn was the venue for the nationally renowned DGKH Congress. In early summer conditions from May 12 to 15, over 1,000 hospital hygiene professionals made their way to the impressive congress center in the heart of the former German capital’s federal district.
The 17th edition of the DGKH congress offered a broad program. After the opening and the keynote speech on Sunday, May 12, visitors were offered lectures, symposia and workshops in up to six halls simultaneously over the following days. The spectrum of topics ranged from A for “antibiotic stewardship” to Z for “zero infection” vision.
Lecture series on infection prevention through hygiene monitoring
Of course, hand hygiene was also a significant part of the congress program. For example, three presentations in the 90-minute lecture block “Infection prevention through hygiene monitoring” highlighted the use of smart disinfectant dispensers in the healthcare sector. A research team, which recorded almost 1,000,000 hand disinfections using an electronic monitoring system, examined the use of hand disinfectant dispensers at various hospital locations.
