Hand disinfection further optimised at St. Clemens Hospital in Geldern

In the intensive care unit of the hospital in the Lower Rhine region, touch-free RX Euro dispensers now support hand hygiene for nursing staff and doctors.

St. Clemens Hospital Geldern is one of the most important healthcare facilities in the Lower Rhine region and, as a generational hospital with over 300 beds, treats patients from young to old. One of the hospital’s main areas of specialisation is intensive care, where critically ill patients receive close-knit care. Careful and appropriate hand disinfection during medical care is essential to protect vulnerable people from infection.

Touchfree Euro dispensers for hand disinfection introduced

With the introduction of the innovative RX hand disinfectant dispensers from OPHARDT Hygiene, the Geldern hospital is further optimising hygiene standards in the intensive care unit. The non-touch technology and close-to-patient installation of the new Euro dispensers are particularly important in order to integrate hand hygiene as seamlessly and conveniently as possible into the workflow of hospital staff. St. Clemens Hospital uses special angle plates to install the Euro dispensers in the immediate vicinity of patients, which enable safe and space-saving positioning.

RX Euro Dispensers

The hand sanitiser dispensers also offer other benefits. These include, in particular, OPHARDT’s patented pump front removal and the dispenser’s energy-efficient drive. In addition, the hospital is completely flexible and independent in its choice of hand sanitiser. This is made possible by the Euro bottle standard, which the RX brand supports. This is a standardised bottle format to which all major manufacturers of soap and hand disinfectant adhere.

Isabella Zarden, hygiene specialist at St. Clemens-Hospital Geldern, is pleased with the touch-free hand sanitiser dispensers from OPHARDT: “Hand disinfection plays a key role in the fight against nosocomial infections. With the new Euro dispensers, we are adding another piece of the puzzle to optimise our hygiene standards.”

Hand hygiene is an important pillar of infection prevention

Hygiene management at St. Clemens Hospital consists of a whole range of measures and activities to effectively prevent infections. Participation in supra-regional projects and working groups as well as participation in the nationwide ‘Clean Hands Campaign’ are also important cornerstones for infection protection in the hospital.

A little fun fact at the end: OPHARDT’s main site in Issum and St. Clemens Hospital in Geldern are just 6.4 kilometres apart as the crow flies. This means that the two facilities are not only closely linked in terms of hygiene, but also regionally.
