How can high standards of hand disinfection be further optimised? The hygiene department at St. Josefs-Hospital Cloppenburg asked itself this question and found the right solution with the smart hand hygiene Euro dispensers from the ingo-man® brand.
They are an integral part of ward 3A at St. Josefs-Hospital Cloppenburg: a total of 23 intelligent hand disinfectant dispensers from OPHARDT Hygiene. With its focus on gynaecology and obstetrics, the ward cares for women after childbirth and surgical procedures, among other things. The hygiene requirements are correspondingly high.
With the smart Euro dispensers from the ingo-man® brand, the hospital has been further optimising its infection prevention measures on the ward for around twelve months now. Anne Lüken, hygiene specialist at St. Josefs-Hospital Cloppenburg, reports that she found out about the innovative disinfectant dispensers through discussions with other hospitals in the hospital network and was quickly convinced of the benefits – especially the multi-stage approach.
Hygiene feedback for the hygiene department and ward staff
The smart dispensers for hand disinfection optimise hygiene in various ways. On the one hand, hygiene specialists receive anonymised data on the disinfection behaviour of nursing staff and doctors on the ward via easy-to-use software. The data can be used, for example, to quickly recognise potential for improvement in the dispenser infrastructure and effectively put it into practice. Conducting targeted hygiene training for ward staff is also convenient and can be implemented quickly.
On the other hand, the smart hand sanitiser dispensers have an integrated feedback LED. This immediately gives the individual user a positive signal via a green light as soon as enough disinfectant has been dispensed from the Euro dispenser.
Hygiene specialist Anne Lüken emphasises that this function contributes to infection prevention: ‘The green light gives every employee direct feedback that the required amount of hand disinfectant has been taken from the dispenser. This helps in particular to optimise the quality of hand hygiene.’
With the innovative hygiene dispensers in 500 ml format, St. Josefs-Hospital Cloppenburg also has complete freedom in its choice of hand disinfectant thanks to the Euro bottle standard. The patented pump front dispenser rounds off the unique product concept.
St. Josefs-Hospital Cloppenburg honoured for hygiene
The introduction of the smart hand hygiene dispensers shows that the hospital in Lower Saxony, which has over 250 beds, is not only open to digitalisation, but also attaches great importance to hand hygiene and infection prevention. Further proof of this is the award of the Gold Seal of the German Clean Hands Campaign (Aktion Saubere Hände) in 2023.
St. Josefs-Hospital Cloppenburg treats over 60,000 patients every year, making it an important medical care centre in the district of Cloppenburg and the surrounding area. As an academic teaching hospital of the Hanover Medical School and with its numerous specialised departments, the hospital stands for high medical standards.
